Joyabaj Bridge

The existing bridge over the El Aguacate river in Joyabah was in poor condition when Mike Paddock's team from Engineers Without Boarders decided to replace it. The project spanned two months during Guatemala's dry season and was a joint effort between EWB and the local community. Each day of construction, over 100 local men arrived before sunrise and worked until dusk. The project was an excellent example of responsible development work.
